Danny Jacobs of the The Daily Record reported last night that Prince George’s County may be the site of a new law school. It will be a branch of the University System of Maryland, University off Baltimore Law School Branch. In part, the Mr. Jacobs reports:
The General Assembly has instructed the University System of Maryland to look into the possibility of a UB Law branch in the D.C. suburbs. Del. Justin D. Ross, D-Prince George’s, was the main force behind the request, which was included in the fiscal year 2010 budget adopted Monday. The lawmakers have asked for a report by Sept. 1. “Having a state law school in the D.C. suburbs can be beneficial to the state of Maryland,” he said Monday. The law school would be able to tap into the population center in the Washington suburbs and offer a lower-cost alternative to the private law schools in Washington, Ross said. – Danny Jacobs, Daily Record
